well, that's exactly the reason why i am expressing surprised at simic being appointed. I've disliked the majority of past laureates. simic, on the other hand, i don't dislike.

I think Clay should be the poet laureate and use the position to score a bunch of complementary fedoras.

But Simic is pretty cool too.
