You already knew this, but your President is insane:

President Bush rejected Lebanon's calls for a cease-fire in escalating Mideast violence on Friday, saying only that Israel should try to limit civilian casualties as it steps up attacks on its neighbor. (...) Israeli war planes have been bombing sites around Lebanon, including the main airport, bridges and power stations, to punish Hezbollah for the capture of two Israeli soldiers. At least 61 people in Lebanon have been killed.
(emphasis mine)

Those 61 people being most likely civilians, of course, not that it matters to Ehud Olmert. Bush also affirmed "his readiness to put pressure on Israel to limit the damage to Lebanon as a result of the current military action, and to spare civilians and innocent people from harm." The question being of course, how to achieve this without a cease-fire? For all that matters, what gives the Israeli government the right to invade a sovereign country? Of course, it's not like Mr. Bush had any legitimacy on the matter.

It seems, and we already knew this, that Mr. Bush and Mr. Olmert's policy to fight terrorism is to oppress civilians and to crush their spirit into desperation.

EDIT 5:11PM: Juan Cole also writes:

there wouldn't be any Hizbullah if Israel had not invaded Lebanon in 1982 and occupied the south for 18 years. Israel's grabby occupation radicalized and helped mobilize the Lebanese Shiites. They aren't going to become less radical and less mobilized as a result of the current hamfisted Israeli assault.
